Genium announces new website to help drafters find important drawing standards information
AMSTERDAM, NY - May 9, 2023 - Finally there is a website for drafters and design engineers to find the standards information they need to successfully interpret and communicate engineering documents. Genium Publishing Corporation has introduced a new website, www.genium.com/draftingzone, which provides access to the essential drawing standards practices, routines, and solutions.
The Drafting ZONE is a handy online assembly of the most commonly used mechanical and electrical drafting standards information and practical experience. The Drafting ZONE helps drafters, design engineers and anyone who must read engineering drawings, establish a level of consistency through standard techniques, formats, and terminology.
The Drafting ZONE is an extension of Genium's popular Modern Drafting Practices and Standards Manual.
"The Drafting Manual has been an invaluable mechanical and electrical drafting source for many professionals for one hundred years," said Michael Cinquanti, Genium's President. Continued Cinquanti, "The employment of web-based drafting information at the Drafting ZONE is a natural and functional response to the need for constantly updated drafting information.
Mr. Gary Whitmire, is the Technical Director, of the new Drafting ZONE and the Drafting Manual. Mr. Whitmire is a nationally known authority on application and interpretation of the drawing and design standards, has over 35 years experience in engineering documentation and served as a member of the AMSE Y14 committee. He has been actively involved with the Y14.5 committee on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT).
Mr. Whitmire is also responsible for the Drafting Manual's Updating Service, which provides subscribers on a regular basis with up-to-date content on drawing standardization. The first update under Mr. Whitmire's command addresses Multi-View and Sectional-View Drawings. The new information in this update also interprets the latest ASME standard addressing Types and Applications of Engineering Drawings.
"The Drafting ZONE allows design professionals fast and convenient access the information they need, when they need it, continued Cinquanti. "The other way we provide our subscribers with updated drafting information is to produce regular CD-ROM supplements for the Drafting Manual."
The Drafting Manual has helped drafting professionals answer questions, avoid mistakes, and settle disputes for a century. Developed by the General Electric Company in 1901, it is the product of decades of experience by thousands of draftsmen, engineers, and department managers. It covers and interprets American national drafting standards and practices and is the most comprehensive single source of drafting standards information on the market today. It includes practices and standards for mechanical, electrical/electronic, commercial, military, and metric design. An annual Updating Service adds new and revised sections to the Drafting Manual each year.
