New Guides Address Individual Cisco Certification Objectives

December 14, 2022 -- Schenectady, NY -- CertificationZone.com announces a new series of pocket guides designed to help Cisco certification candidates brush up on individual exam objectives. The first two titles, available January 7, 2000, include the OSI Reference Model by Howard C. Berkowitz and AppleTalk by Priscilla Oppenheimer. Additional titles in the series will follow.

The OSI Reference Model Pocket Guide provides an easy-to-read review of the seven layer approach to modern network design. Information contained in the guide will help those studying for Cisco exams fully understand what is expected of them in order to correctly answer OSI-related questions. The guide also contains 35 sample questions related to the OSI Model to help readers measure their comprehension of the subject.

Those preparing for the CCIE exam will be interested in the AppleTalk Pocket Guide. Even though AppleTalk is not widely used, the topic is addressed on several of the certification exams offered by Cisco. This guide will be particularly helpful to those who have little or no familiarity with the protocol but must know it in order to score well on these exams. Practical advice is also offered to help network professionals in troubleshooting and migrating networks from AppleTalk to IP. The booklet also includes 25 sample questions, patterned after those that appear on the certification exams.

In making the announcement, publisher Michael Cinquanti described the pocket guides as a quick and easy way for exam candidates to review or brush up on topics that give them trouble. "More titles will be available on a continuing basis, giving students a chance to select from those objectives for which they need the most help. Each guide is written by an expert in the field. It's like having your own personal tutor." Current plans call for the next title to be released in this series to address Bridging.

The authors are both contributors to CertificationZone.com, an online study area for candidates pursuing Cisco certification. Mr. Berkowitz, Technical Director of the Zone, is a product line manager for the Carrier Packet Solutions group at NortelNetworks. A Certified Cisco Systems Instructor (CSSI) since 1993, he is active in both network design and education. A contributor to several Cisco courses and seminars, he has also authored two books on network architecture and is currently working on a third. He is an active participant in the North American Network Operators' Group (NANOG), the American Registry for Internet numbers (ARIN), and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

Ms. Oppenheimer, a Certified Network Expert (CNX) in both Ethernet and Token Ring, has been developing data communications and networking systems for 20 years. As a technical instructor and training developer, she has taught more than 2,000 network engineers from most of the Fortune 500 companies. Her employment with Apple Computer, Network General, and Cisco Systems has given her a chance to troubleshoot a variety of network design problems. Her husband, Alan Oppenheimer, was one of the creators of AppleTalk, providing the author with a unique perspective of the technology and how it has evolved.

The Pocket Guides are available at $12.95 (US dollars) each. Multi-copy discounts make the guides attractive as handouts by training providers or as review texts by educational institutions. Free imprinting of an organization's name on the front cover is also available on larger orders.
