Quality of Service III

Never has Quality of Service (QoS) been of greater importance than it is today. We've all heard of VoIP (voice over IP) by now. VoIP is the driving factor behind the growing popularity of QoS.

Covered are various topics related to QoS, including FIFO queuing, WFQ, priority queuing, custom queuing, CBWFQ, and LLQ.

This tutorial will help you gain a better understanding of each QoS method and give you a good idea where and when to use them. There is heavy emphasis on QoS as it relates to VoIP networks and Cisco routers and switches. We will explore methods of bandwidth efficiency increase, congestion avoidance, traffic shaping, and policing. The tutorial wraps up with a brief discussion on Auto QoS and QoS in Voice over IP networks.

I strongly suggest that you also read the following QoS tutorials by Certification Zone author Howard Berkowitz. This tutorial is meant as a follow-up these compositions.

QoS I
QoS II
